Helvetica is a feature-length independent film about typography, graphic design and global visual culture. It looks at the proliferation of one typeface (which will celebrate its 50th birthday in 2007) as part of a larger conversation about the way type affects our lives. The film is an exploration of urban spaces in major cities and the type that inhabits them, and a fluid discussion with renowned designers about their work, the creative process, and the choices and aesthetics behind their use of type.

More than a documentary, Helvetica is a call to see the world around us. We are all influenced by the individual posters and promotions that are sprinkled throughout the city. Designers communicate with us daily, and the font that is used more than any other is Helvetica.

Several renowned figures in the design world are interviewed. Some favor the use of Helvetica and others who oppose its use and implementation. No matter what may be your opinion, or if you do not have any, this documentary is instructive and full of valuable information for any graphic artist.
