Tis the season to share and celebrate with our family and friends. It is also the time to create Christmas cards. This year (as the year before) I have been asked to create a postcard to be sent to all university employees. Like last year, I was given total freedom in creating the concept and execution.

With a suggestion from my colleague, Ms. Velez, I got the idea of creating a Christmas tree. And since the proposal where I work has to do with technology, what better than to do a tree with that theme.

The tree was made with craft wire. First I secured the USB cable with tape to the wire. Then rolled in a circle and pulled it in the center so it would become a spiral. The background lights were held by one of my coworkers. The spiral wire was not the mouse’s cable because it was very short. I set up a lamp on the right side with Barn doors that the background wouldn’t get contaminated with the light. I adjusted the speed and aperture to render well the foreground but have the background dark so it does not show the hand of my companion. The result was as follows.
